Just realised that I’ve not posted anything since 1st Jan. Oops.

Oh well, I have an excuse, I’ve been busy busy. Lots of shoots, lots of planning, lots of research.

This year is going to be the beginning so fingers crossed.

In April I will be completely restructuring my website, pricing, products, advertising…basically starting from scratch.

Thos of you that do follow may have noticed that all my YouTube videos disappeared temporarily, well, they’re back up and running in much higher definition. 280p was just poo. All slideshows are now up and in either 480p or 720p.

Enjoy…

I’ve just been through my catalogue of images from 2010 and have created a slide show which is now on my YouTube channel.

It’s a 3 minute video with some of my favourite images form the last 12 months.

Hopefully this will give me a starting point for the next 12 months and give me a basis for comparison this time next year to see how my style has progressed.

Enjoy…

To guarantee prints arrive for Christmas, the final day for ordering will be Wednesday 15th December.

If you have your sitting before Sunday 12th, your images will be online in time for you to choose your prints before the order deadline so be quick, I’ve only got a few slots available.

I’ve found myself in a position where the only photos I will be taking over the coming months will be for fun rather than profit.

I can’t wait…its going to be great getting back to the real reasons for me becoming so passionate about my hobby.

Over the coming month, maybe more, you’ll find this blog filled with the photos I’ve been taking starting here, with these photos i took for a friend of a friend last weekend.

As these shots were all taken on an overcast afternoon, I had to create an interesting Autumn glow with hte help of a flash gun and a Lee CTO gel.

The final shot in the slide show actally has the flash gun in shot (top left) to give the impression of the sun setting through the trees.

You can view the animated slideshow on my YouTube channel.

This week has been enough to drive me crazy.
I managed to send my neck muscle into spasm last week so i’ve been suffering quite considerably.
I’ve been able to do no work what so ever, and have spent most of the week on my back.
Luckily due to the joys of the iPhone, i’ve been able to keep up with emails and such and have also managed to find 2 new apps to keep me sane.

The first app is called Instagr.am and is an app that allows you to show everyone what you’re doing through the joys of photography.
You can either take pics through your iPhone or use imported images. You can then edit them using a selection of preset filters and upload them to the app for others to view and comment on.
Feel free to download the app and follow me by searching for username ‘kevmalone’

The second app is called animoto.com
This fantastic app allows you to create fantastic slideshows. For free you can create up to 30second slide shows. I’ve created a few which you can view through my new YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/kevmalonephotography

Here’s the gallery of images from a shoot I had with the fantastic Bekki. We met through Purestorm which is a fantastic place to meet local models and arrange shoots.

The shoot was to be a gritty urban shoot and Bekki’s look perfectly complimented the ideas.

She was extremely enthusiastic all evening, despite the freezing temperatures and the completely expected drunk element in the centre of Blackpool and I can’t wait to work with her again on the next shoot I have in mind.

Seeing as it’s my birthday and i’m in such a good mood I’m going to give the next 3 people to call me a free photo shoot worth £79.

Give me a ring and register you’re interest, oh, and you still get a free 7×5 framed print…

Today saw me working with a fantastic family at my temporary home studio.

A family shot was required for the Pearl Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Lonsdale so hopefully I didn’t disappoint.

During the course of the shoot I have captured what I consider to be my favourite photo to date (for a customer).

I think it captures everyone at the perfect moment to show a truly happy family.

Due to the dark outfits chosen by everybody I thought this processing style, with its muted tones and reasonable levels of contrast, fit the mood and style perfectly.

This evening I was looking forward to a shoot with a model I found through www.purestorm.com. Unfortunately, she came down with Tonsillitis and so I decided to take a trek up to Beacon Fell to capture some star trails.

I’ll share a pic or too later this weekend if there’s time.

Unfortunately, while I was up there, my SB600 took a bit of a hit. I was up until 2am this morning with a downloaded diagram, tiny screwdrivers and a lot of patience, but it finally lives.

I couldn’t have done it without the help of Huy of QH Photography and his online diagrams on his Flickr page.

Well, a last minute week off work has left me with loads of time on my hands, which is always nice.

I spent today up on Beacon Fell, near Garstang, which was great, apart from the rain.

It managed to stay dry enough for me to capture this one image, of Larch Avenue.

I’m quite happy with the processing and composition, but there is definitely a missing element. I think a man walking his dog would fit nicely, to give some human interest.

Fingers crossed for some nice weather over the coming days so I can get out more during the day.

I’ve also lined up a shoot with the lovely Beth Dust on thursday evening, so hopefully the weather will stay nice for that.
